Facebook has officially caught up to social-networking rival MySpace, according to new traffic numbers from web tracker Comscore.

Both sites attracted about 115 million unique visitors in April, marking the first time Facebook has pulled even with its News Corp.-owned rival. Comscore announced its latest traffic results on Thursday.

Facebook has been experiencing massive growth over the past few years, particularly in international markets.

The site had about 36 million unique visits from U.S. members, compared to 23 million a year ago, with the remainder coming from other countries. MySpace maintained its lead in the United States with 72 million unique visitors.

MySpace, however, has barely grown over the past year.

In April, 2007, the site had about 110 million total visitors while Facebook had about 40 million.

MySpace is reacting to its rival's momentum with a redesign of its site, to be launched next week. The company said its "facelift" will include a new splash page, navigation system, profile customization and search functionality.

The company said the redesign is part of a year-long initiative to improve the website.
