Sony is once again dealing with an online security breach after the company said Wednesday that 2,000 customers of its Sony Ericsson venture in Canada may have had their information taken.
A Sony spokesman said customers names, email and encrypted passwords may have been taken from a company website. Atsuo Omagari said no credit card information was taken.
Sony Ericsson is a mobile phone joint venture between L.M. Ericsson of Sweden and Sony.
The breach was discovered Tuesday, and there are no reports of damage from the breach.
The latest breach came just days after Sony restarted its PlayStation Network.
The network, which enables console owners to download games, went offline on April 19, after Sony discovered that hackers had breached security, accessing the personal information on 100 million PlayStation Network, Qriocity and Sony Online Entertainment accounts worldwide.
