On Tuesday, the largest of the teachers’ union’s one-day walkouts will affect schools in Toronto, Durham Region, Peel Region, Greater Essex County, Lambton-Kent, Grand Erie, Near North and Waterloo Region.

Hundreds of thousands of students will have to stay home. The Toronto District School Board alone employs more than 10,000 teachers.

Teachers have already walked off the job in one-day actions in Northern Ontario, the Ottawa area, Niagara region, York Region and Hamilton, among other parts of the province.

The walkouts will move to the Bluewater (Grey-Bruce), Algoma and Halton school boards Wednesday and on Thursday to schools in the Upper Canada (Southeastern Ontario), Limestone (Kingston area), Thames Valley (London area) and Superior-Greenstone (Northwestern Ontario) school boards.
