A risk of overheating and burns has led to the recall of 41,000 Toshiba notebook computers sold between August 2009 and August 2010.
Three models of the Toshiba Satellite notebook computer have been recalled because of overheating. (Health Canada)The DC-in jack, where the AC adapter plugs into the computer can overheat to the point where the plastic base around the jack melts, which could lead to burns on users who touch it.
Toshiba Canada has received 14 reports of excessive heat or smoke from the computers, while there have been 129 reports in the United States.
Health Canada has not received any reports of injuries from the overheated computers.
The recall includes the following models:
- Satellite Pro T130
- Satellite T130
- Satellite T130D
Owners can visit the Toshiba Canada website for instructions on how to download a program which will detect whether their computer is affected by the recall.
