A portable infant recliner has been recalled by Health Canada over concerns it could lead to severe head injury, entrapment and death.

According to Health Canada, infants can partially fall or hang suspended out of the recliner, even when harnessed, if the straps are improperly fastened.
As well, if the recliner is placed on an elevated surface or in a crib, an infant could fall out or being entrapped between the recliner and the side of the crib.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is looking into the case of a four-month-old baby girl who died when she became caught between the Nap Nanny and her crib bumper. The CPSC has also received numerous reports of infants falling out of the recliner and sustaining injuries.
There have been no reports of injuries or deaths in Canada.
The product being recalled is the first generation Nap Nanny, which does not have "D" rings in the foam base.
Consumers should stop using this product and contact the distributor, Baby Matters, to receive an $80 coupon towards the purchase of a new Nap Nanny with free shipping.
There have been 63 Nap Nanny recliners sold in Canada via the company's website.
