Frozen dessert recalled over milk labelling

A frozen dessert product produced in Quebec is being pulled from the market after it was found to contain milk ingredients not declared on the label.
Milk allergies can be potentially life-threatening. (IStock)Consumers with milk allergies or lactose intolerance are also being warned to avoid the product.
Maple flavour natur-a Glace brand non-dairy frozen dessert is sold in 946-mL containers. It's produced by Nutrisoya Inc. of St-Hyacinthe, Que.
Milk allergies occur when the body's immune system reacts abnormally to milk proteins and can be a life-threatening condition.
Lactose intolerance is caused by the lack of an enzyme that helps digest lactose, a primary component of milk. Symptoms include abdominal pain, bloating and diarrhea.
There have been no reports of illnesses related to the mislabelled product.
