Lysol Steam Cleaning Mops have been recalled in Canada and the U.S. because of a burn risk. (Health Canada)Conair is recalling about 8,700 Lysol Steam Cleaning Mops across Canada — and 162,000 in the United States — after reports of hot water spurting out and burning at least two consumers who sought medical attention.
The Chinese-made mops were sold at Sears Canada, Home Hardware and other retailers in Canada between April 2007 and December 2009.
Connecticut-based Conair has warned that when hot water is mixed with Lysol, it can forcefully spurt out and rupture the mop's housing, posing the danger of burns and a laceration hazard from the broken housing. Conair said it has received 15 reports in the U.S. and Canada of hot water spilling out. The two reported burn cases were not serious, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Consumers are advised to stop using the Lysol Steam Cleaning Mop immediately. Conair says it will provide free replacements.
