The Conference Board says Canadians are starting to feel a little better about their economic future.

The latest consumer confidence survey by the Ottawa-based think-tank suggests Canadians are more upbeat about job prospects and making major purchases.

But the survey taken March 5-13 also suggests continuing concern about household finances and job security.

Only 20.5 per cent of respondents said they expect their financial situation to improve in the next six months, a decline of 1.5 points from the previous survey.

There was a slight improvement of 1.2 per cent on the jobs question, but more than half of those surveyed remain pessimistic about job prospects.
