The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has added another 21 products to the growing recall list because the peanuts they contain may have been contaminated with salmonella.
Consumers should not eat the products, because Peanut Corp. of America has recalled them due to salmonella contamination.
"This is an ongoing food safety investigation," the CFIA said Saturday, adding it is working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to remove all the contaminated products imported from the U.S.
Peanut Corp. has recalled more than 430 peanut products it made dating as far back as Jan. 1, 2007.
The company may have shipped tainted products to dozens of other food companies.
More than 500 people have been sickened as a result of the outbreak; at least eight may have died because of salmonella infections.
The U.S. Justice Department will investigate possible criminal violations by the peanut-processing plant.
On Friday, the CFIA announced it was expanding its recall to include several dozen products.
