Doug Armstrong is making the move to the St. Louis Blues.

Sources have told the Canadian Press that Armstrong has accepted a front office position working alongside current St. Louis general manager Larry Pleau, who's expected to retire after two more seasons.

Armstrong, from Sarnia, Ont., was terminated as general manager of the Dallas Stars in November after five seasons in that role. He had been with the organization for 16 seasons.

He was an assistant general manager with the team when they won their first and only Stanley Cup in 1999 and the Stars never posted a losing season after he became the GM in 2002.

But after Dallas posted a 7-7-3 start to the 2007-08 season, Armstrong was fired by team owner Tom Hicks and replaced by former player Brett Hull and then assistant GM Les Jackson.

Most recently, Armstrong served as assistant GM of the latest edition of Team Canada, which won a silver medal at the IIHF World Hockey Championship earlier in May.

Armstrong had also been linked recently to the Toronto Maple Leafs, who are attempting to bring in several front office personnel.

He was supposed to discuss a position with Toronto this week. However, he will reportedly be announced to be taking the position in St. Louis without even being interviewed by the Maple Leafs.
