Wal-Mart Canada has resolved its pricing dispute with toy building block maker Lego and will resume selling the toys, the retailer said Tuesday.
Wal-Mart yanked the blocks from its Canadian stores early in 2008, saying the toymaker's prices didn't reflect the strengthening value of the Canadian loonie against the U.S. dollar.
At the time, Wal-Mart Canada was widely quoted as saying it wouldn't tolerate "unfair pricing for our Canadian consumers."
The retailer and toymaker have since reached a "mutual decision" that will see Lego return to stores, Wal-Mart said in a statement released Tuesday.
"We are pleased we have resolved the situation," the release said.
"We feel that what is best for our consumers is that we provide them an opportunity to purchase Lego products through our stores."
The two companies are currently working out the necessary details, such as timelines and product assortment, for reinstating the products.
