A transport truck packed with quarters has tumbled down a nine-metre embankment west of Kamloops, B.C., spilling part of its load.

The truck was transporting the coins from the Royal Canadian Mint in Winnipeg when it went off the road Thursday night. Its driver and a passenger were slightly injured.

Police have not said what might have caused the accident, but it did take place on a narrow and steep section of Highway 1, the Trans-Canada.

Officers were posted at the accident scene all night, in part because they don't want traffic backing up.

They also want to discourage any freelance coin collectors.
