Health Canada on Friday warned consumers about two toys being recalled from the marketplace for unsafe lead levels.

The recall affects the following products:

• About 120 toy buses manufactured by Goldsea Toys Co., marked with the UPC code 202002002650, sold across the country between 2005 and November 2007.
• About 186 Mighty Wheels Power Shovel toy trucks manufactured by Soma International, marked with the UPC code 044278794780, distributed in Quebec and New Brunswick from July 2007 to December 2007.

Both toys were manufactured in China.

Health Canada said consumers should take the toy buses away from children and throw them in trash. Retailer M. Rossy Ltd. is offering refunds for the Mighty Wheels Power Shovel toy trucks.

High amounts of lead can harm the nervous system, kidneys and other major organs. Anemia, a decline in red blood cells, can occur, as well as damage to the nervous system that may impair mental function. At worst, lead poisoning can cause seizures or death.

No adverse health effects have been reported.

In recent months, U.S. and Canadian officials have issued a series of recalls of made-in-China toys for safety problems involving high lead levels and magnets.
