City staff in Moncton are being asked to change their driving habits in an effort to reduce pollution.
The city has requested that its staff no longer go through drive-thrus with city vehicles, Coun. Steven Boyce said Tuesday.
"Obviously the city is trying to set an example in this area."
It's a matter of making a choice to reduce the amount of pollution produced on a daily basis, Boyce said.
But policies like banning employees from using drive-thrus are just Band-Aid solutions, he said.
The city is also examining limiting the number of drive-thrus allowed in the city.
"A voluntary exercise on the part of consumers would be something we could start today," Boyce said. "I think … a drive-thru is just one more example of something we could eliminate without disrupting that much of our lives."
