Corey Holmes is heading back to the Saskatchewan Roughriders as part of a three-player deal that will send receiver Jason Armstead to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

The Roughriders will also get Canadian receiver Chris Getzlaf in the deal.

Armstead caught one pass for 28 yards in Saskatchewan's thrilling win over Edmonton on Saturday, a game delayed 55 minutes due to lightning.

The CBC will broadcast the final hour of the game for those who missed it at 12:30 A.M. local time Monday in all Canadian markets.

Armstead had 15 catches for 226 yards and one touchdown this season, his second in Regina. The 28-year-old has also returned three punts for touchdowns a career that began with Ottawa in 2004.

"We needed a difference-maker on special teams, and he is a former 1,000-yard receiver," Hamilton general manager Marcel Desjardins said Sunday. "He is a big play waiting to happen when he gets the ball. I think he is one of the more dynamic guys in the league."

Multi-purpose back Holmes returns to the team he played for when he was twice named a CFL all-star and Outstanding Special Teams Player of the Year (2002, 2005).

Holmes, 30, returned 22 kicks this season for a 19.3 average for Hamilton.

He carried the ball 14 times for 74 yards for the Ticats, his time out of the backfield limited by the strong play of Jesse Lumsden.

Holmes was sent to Hamilton along with Scott Gordon for the first overall pick in the Ottawa Dispersal Draft after the 2005 season.

Holmes was the West Division nominee for Most Outstanding Player in 2005 after amassing over 3,400 yards in rushing, receiving and kickoff and punt returns.

He had carried the ball 378 times for 2432 yards heading into this season, a 6.4 average.

Roughriders general manager Eric Tillman said the team was " … thrilled to acquire Corey and Chris. Corey is a multi-purpose talent and, of course, one of the all-time class individuals in the Canadian Football League."

Getzlaf was on Hamilton's practice roster this season. The rookie out of University of Regina was drafted by the Tiger-Cats in the fifth round in the 2007 Canadian draft.
