The Toronto Raptors have begun their off-season by acquiring guard Carlos Delfino for second-round picks in 2009 and 2011.

Delfino, 25, played in all 82 games this past season, averaging 5.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 16.8 minutes of court time.

The Argentina native is scheduled to earn slightly more than $1.8 million US next season.

"Carlos is a talented basketball player that should thrive in our system," Raptors GM Bryan Colangelo said in a statement Friday. "Like many international players that come to the league, he has much more professional experience than his NBA resumé suggests."

The Pistons selected the six-foot-six guard 25th overall in the 2003 draft. Delfino spent time in the Italian League — Reggio Calabria (2000-02) and Skipper Bologna (2003-04) — before jumping to the NBA.

He was also a member of the Argentine squad that surprised many basketball observers by winning the gold medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
