An international company that finds cheap flights through the internet has launched a Canadian portal.
'Think of us a bit like a dating agency but without the risk of wining and dining a complete dud.'— Cheapflights.ca, on its website
Cheapflights.ca, the Canadian arm of the British and U.S. company of the same name, said Wednesday that its Canadian site has "a light-launch set of features" such as a flight booking engine, deals section and tips.
The company aims to make deal hunting simple by matching travellers "with the best people to fly you there," the company said on its website. It includes flights from major airlines, online travel agents and small specialists.
"Think of us a bit like a dating agency but without the risk of wining and dining a complete dud," the website said.
Cheapflights sorts flight prices from its partners and then publishes a filtered list of the best deals. Travellers can make a booking through links on the site or by phone.
The company does not charge for the service or make bookings. It makes money from its advertisers, including airlines and booking businesses.
The Canadian market is a natural for the company because of the high rate of internet usage and the price competition among airlines and charter flights, it said in a news release.
"The rapid price changes in seat pricing due to competition, unsold capacity and seasonal variations means that consumers can be confused as to where to look for the best available fares," the release said.
Many Canadians have been using the U.S. site to hunt for Canadian departures. They will now be redirected to the Canadian site.
