A man who walked into a Regina high school and assaulted a student is going to jail.
On Thursday, a Regina judge sentenced Brandon Dermody, 19, to three months in jail for the Dec. 4 attack at Scott Collegiate.
More serious charges of assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm were stayed by the Crown.
Court heard Dermody and another man walked into the school and a student was attacked. According to the Crown, Dermody struck the victim several times.
At the time of the incident, some people said they believed gangs were involved, although there was no mention of that at Thursday's sentencing.
A second man, Waylon Peepeetch, 20, is still facing charges. He'll be back in court next month.
