Savard, a former star with the Blackhawks, rejoined Chicago as an assistant coach under Craig Hartsburg on Dec. 3, 1997.

Drafted third overall by Chicago in 1980, the Pointe-Gatineau, Que., native posted 473 goals and 865 assists for 1,338 points in 1,196 games over 17 NHL seasons.

Savard also played for the Montreal Canadiens and Tampa Bay Lightning.
