Bourdon, 19, has played nine games this season, recording zero points and four penalty minutes.

The native of Shippagan, N.B., averaged 7:57 of ice time with Vancouver.

Defenceman Patrick Coulombe was recalled from Vancouver's American Hockey League affiliate, the Manitoba Moose, to take Bourdon's spot on the roster.

Bourdon was Vancouver's first-round pick, 10th overall, in the 2005 NHL draft.

He split the 2005-06 season between Val D'Or and Moncton in the QMJHL. As a member of the Wildcats, Bourdon played in the last Memorial Cup.

Bourdon also helped Canada win gold at the 2006 world junior hockey championship in Vancouver and was named to the tournament's all-star team.
