The double shooting in a car on a residential street that shocked a neighbourhood in Port Coquitlam, B.C., appears to be a case of domestic violence, the RCMP said Friday afternoon.
Police said they believe Parmajit Singh Ghuman, 40, of Port Coquitlam shot his estranged wife while she was driving on Thursday afternoon and then turned the gun on himself.
Both were critically wounded. Ghuman died a short time later, while Gurjeet Kaur Ghuman, also of Port Coquitlam, remains in critical condition.

A school bus driver who discovered the couple in the black Acura in the middle of Prairie Avenue near Cedar Road told CBC News he's still shocked by what he saw.
Ralph Hoyme parked the bus behind the car, told his four young passengers to stay calm and then rushed out to try to help.
"So I got out of the bus to see if I could be of any assistance and the female victim was in pretty bad shape, gurgling in her own blood."
Bev Bucchiotti, who lives in the neighbourhood, said she was sitting in her car outside a convenience store, heard the shots and saw the car swerve and come to a stop.
"Oh, it's very scary. My daughter and her friend who were in the store when it happened were just hysterical, crying."
