Hasbro has revamped the Monopoly board with a modern twist.
The toy company unveiled Tuesday the Here & Now edition. The die-cast token terriers, wheelbarrows and race cars have been replaced with a Toyota Prius, a New Balance shoe and a Motorola mobile handset.
Designer Charles Darrow invented the board game 71 years ago, with early players using buttons and pennies to move around the board.
Seeking to modernize the popular game, Hasbro polled over three million online voters andĀ asked them: "What would the board game look like if it were invented today instead of in 1935?"
"These updated tokens are extremely relevant in the 21st century and provide an additional layer of fun and authenticity for players as they enjoy our new contemporary edition," Matt Collins, vice-president of marketing at Hasbro Games, said in a release.
Voters chose to replace the Scottish terrier token with the Labradoodle, a mix between a Labrador retriever and a poodle.
Internet service is one of the utilities offered on the new board and airports have bumped the board's railroads.
