Liberal incumbent Colleen Beaumier has defeated Tony Clement in the riding of Brampton West.
With all but two polls counted, Beaumier received 45.3 per cent of the vote share, defeating Clement by slightly more than 2,600 votes. Clement got almost 40 per cent of the vote.
Clement lost the riding provincially in the last Ontario election, and has made unsuccessful leadership bids provincially and federally.
Clement was hoping that voter anger with Ontario's Liberals would make him a winner. Clement publicly thanked Premier Dalton McGuinty for breaking campaign promises and reviving the Tory's electoral chances.

His strong performance as Ontario health minister during last year's SARS crisis made him a strong contender for the federal health portfolio had the Tories won.
Colleen Beaumier is a three-term Liberal backbencher.
