- FROM CBC SPORTS ONLINE: Flames stifle Lightning in Game 1 of Stanley Cup finals
Though the first game of the final round was played in Tampa Bay, thousands crammed into Calgary's Pengrowth Saddledome to watch the action on giant video screens.
After the game, fans crowded the bar and restaurant strip along Calgary's 17th Avenue, which has been dubbed the Red Mile for the sea of jerseys people are wearing in support of the team.

Fans stood for the last two minutes of the game, screaming when Flames winger Chris Simon scored in the final seconds.
The Calgary Flames trounced Tampa Bay despite the Lightning's 7-2 record for winning games on its own ice.
It's the first time in ten years that a Canadian team has made it into the final round of the Stanley Cup. The Vancouver Canucks were the last team to do that when they met the New York Rangers in 1994. Vancouver lost that series 4-3.
Some fans watched the game at Calgary's Saddledome.
The last time a Canadian team won the Stanley Cup was in 1993 when the Montreal Canadiens beat the Los Angeles Kings.
Many doubted the Flames would make it as far as the playoffs. But they knocked off three division leaders in a row, and now fans are hoping the team can win the best-of-seven series in just four games.
That's the wish of at least one fan who was seen yelling "only three more left" as he strolled the streets topless and with a flaming red 'C' painted on his chest.
One female police officer suffered a concussion Tuesday when she was pushed during the celebrations. It is not known if alcohol was a factor or if charges will be laid.
Game 2 will be played Thursday at St. Pete's Forum in Tampa and the next game will be in Calgary at the Saddledome.
