One of Saskatchewan's most well-known icons has been defaced.
Mac the Moose, the 10-tonne statue that greets visitors to the city of Moose Jaw, was attacked by vandals.
They smashed a gaping hole into the underbelly of the moose using dismantled picnic tables.
Michelle Power of Tourism Moose Jaw says people are concerned about Mac. "People have been asking questions about the moose and we're finding that people are just shaking their heads in dismay at this type of insane violation on the moose."
Moose Jaw police are investigating the incident.
The city hopes to have Mac patched up in the next few weeks.
