The Bowness resident recently received a yellow card from Canada Post, informing her that her letter carrier will not deliver mail because of a steady stream of wasps at her door.
The post office says she will have to get rid of the wasps if she wants her mail. But Rysan says she won't destroy the nest because the wasps don't sting and they eat aphids, which are harmful to her garden.
"If these wasps are likely to sting, I think I would sympathize more," she says. "But as we are standing here and within two feet, for several minutes already and me in shorts, there is no danger of being stung."
Canada Post says it has a policy that letter carriers can refuse service if they feel threatened or at danger. Such dangers include dogs, a lack of handrails on stairs and wasps.
That means Rysan will have to travel to a nearby mail depot to pick up her letters, until the wasps leave.
