The long, snowy winter was harder on some than others. A Prince Edward Island animal pathologist thinks that's what caused the death of hundreds of frogs near New Waterford.

However, pathologist Scott McBurney says the frogs likely froze to death while they hibernated near the marsh.

McBurney he's found no signs of toxins in the animals. He will is sending his test results to a specialist in Saskatchewan.

McBurney says he should have a definite conclusion by next week.
