The parents of a murdered Victoria teenager are suing for damages. Manjit and Suman Virk are going after the two teens convicted of beating and killing their daughter, the teens' parents, the B.C. government, the Greater Victoria School District and a Crown prosecutor.

Reena's father, Manjit, says the issue is one of fairness and accountability. He says the lawsuit is aimed at holding people responsible for their actions.

Fourteen-year-old Reena was swarmed and beaten to death by a gang of teens along Victoria's Gorge waterway in 1997.

A teenage boy and a teenage girl were each convicted of second-degree murder. Six other young people were found guilty of assault causing bodily harm.
