Police wrap up house search

Last Updated: Friday, November 3, 2000 | 7:14 PM ET

The RCMP are relieved that the system which dumped snow on parts of Manitoba Thursday missed the Winnipeg area.

Sgt. Steve Saunders says significant snowfall would have hindered the investigation into the murder of Bev Rowbotham.

He says a police Hasty Team continued its work Friday searching along River Road and Highway 9 near Selkirk.

Saunders says on Friday the RCMP will complete their search of the property where Rowbotham lived with her husband and two sons.

The completion comes just as the search warrant expires. Friday the property will be turned back over to the family.

In the meantime, Saunders says Thursday's plea for public assistance did help the investigation.

While not able to discuss the nature or number of calls that came in, Saunders does say the phone line at the Selkirk RCMP detachment was staffed around the clock.
