A Charlottetown councillor is tired of watching drivers run red lights. Mike Duffy says it's time for police to crack down on motorists.
Duffy says it's one of the big issues he hears when he's campaigning door-to-door in advance of next month's municipal election.
Police chief Paul Smith concedes there has been a deterioration in driving habits in Charlottetown in recent months.
He says road construction is part of the problem. "Driving habits kind of go by the wayside when people are trying to make up time or detour around things and just try to avoid them."
Smith says his officers are taking action. The police department is getting a new laser speed-gun to monitor motorists' speeds.
