The second anniversary of the crash of Swissair Flight 111 is being marked with a ceremony Saturday.

The crash killed 229 people when the plane slammed into the water off Peggy's Cove.

Ian Shaw lost a his daughter on the flight, and he was so moved by the kindness of Nova Scotians that night two years ago he moved to the province. He gave up a successful business in Geneva to run a restaurant in Shad Bay, not far from Peggy's Cove.

"I changed my life in the perhaps the most radical way a person can," says Shaw. "The people here have open their community and hearts to me."

So far almost $70 million has been spent on the recovery of plane parts and the investigation but there is still no explanation for a devastating cockpit fire or any explanation on why pilot Urs Zimmerman didn't dump the plane's fuel and land as soon as he saw smoke in the cockpit.

"This is a very complicated investigation, "says Vic Gerden of the transportation safety board. "It takes time and we are approaching it in a very systemic way."
