Winnipeggers are being asked to open their wallets to help fund millennium projects in the city.

Catalogues listing all projects approved by the millennium council are being sent to all Winnipeg homes.

Some of the projects have funding. Some don't.

They range from preserving architecture to building a butterfly conservatory at Assiniboine Park.

Council chairperson Bill Loewen says the projects will be completed within three years. But first, they need donations.

"Hopefully, we can now do something at the Assiniboine Park and at the Library and elsewhere that people will look back and say, 'Well, look what they did for us.'"

About 2,000 contributions have already been made.
