Statistics Canada says the country's so-called brain drain is really a brain gain.

A report released Wednesday concedes more and more young, educated people are leaving for the United States.

But it says far more are arriving from other countries.

Ottawa's high-tech community is reacting to the report with skepticism.

They say losing our best home grown talent is still a loss for Canada.

And they say, in some fields, companies have to be able to compete with those in the United States.

Dale Gantous is the CEO of the Ingenius group of companies.

She says in the internet field companies can't always go overseas for talent.

"In my business, the internet business world-class leadership is in the United States, and if I want world-class people I have to get them from Canada or the United States and it's tough to get people in the United States to move to Canada."

Gantous says combating brain drain needs to be a focus of the high-tech community in Canada.
