The former director of Montreal-based Castor Holdings is wanted by the RCMP. Wolfgang Stolzenberg faces 42 counts of fraud and conspiracy.

Castor Holdings, a kind of private bank, went bankrupt almost eight years ago, with debts of about one and a half billion dollars. The company was involved in commercial loans and helped finance the construction of the Eaton Centre in Montreal. It also had an interest in the Toronto World Trade Centre.

Swiss authorities investigated Stolzenberg, who is a German citizen, and three other men, including Edwin Baenzinger. Now the RCMP is looking for Stolzenberg, whose address is given as Germany.

Stolzenberg is charged with defrauding Chrysler Canada of more than $113 million US and $58 million Cdn. The RCMP says the events took place between 1989 and 1991 and are related to the bankruptcy of Castor Holdings.

Stolzenberg is also charged with defrauding an insurance company, three financial institutions and a high-tech firm in the Montreal suburb of St. Laurent.
