Canada's brain drain is apparently a myth. It's been said that this country is losing more and more highly skilled people the U.S.

Statistics Canada has produced numbers that show the reverse to be true. A lot more skilled people are arriving than leaving each year.

Jian Meng is a prime example. He and his family came from China.

Meng has a bachelor's degree in computer engineering from Tianwan University in Beijing.

He's considered to be one of the best and brightest in his field.

Scott Murray of Statistics Canada says this country is a very attractive destination because "it's a highly developed country with a growing economy and a very good social safety net".

Murray says the ratio of skilled people coming compared to leaving Canada is currently about 10 to one.

He says figures show more than 200,000 immigrants will come to Canada this year. Half of them are highly educated and skilled.
