Within a month or so there will be a lot less of that long-distance feeling for people in and around the Greater Toronto Area.

As of October 22nd, Bell Canada is expanding its local calling area.

People in places like Campbelleville, Beeton, Caledon, Tottenham and Victoria, Milton and Georgetown will now be able to call into Toronto and vise versa, without paying extra.

Bell is also eliminating the long-distance tolls for calls among many of those smaller communities.

The expansion of the local calling areas will cost Bell Canada 3.1 million dollars.
