An Embree family caught more than they bargained for during the food fishery.
The children found a package containing almost one-and-a-half kilograms of cocaine washed up on a beach on a small island in The Bay of Exploits north of Embree.
The cocaine is estimated to be worth $45,000.
Police say the packaging is similar to bags of cocaine that washed ashore on the West Coast of the island in 1997 and 1998. And similar to the 40 kilos of cocaine the was found on a freighter docked at Botwood two years ago.
