One of the worst jobs following the crash of Swissair flight 111 last September was identifying all the passengers from the wreckage pulled out of the sea.

Eventually, 350 people would work in a makeshift morgue called Hangar B - where all the names were put to the remains. Today, the RCMP honored some of the local experts who gave back all 229 names to their owners .

Officers from the Peel force were given plaques and citations by the Mounties. The officers were honoured, but remembered the stress was tremendous.

"When you go to bed at night, you close your eyes and you see yourself back in Hangar B - you relive what you've done that day," says Constable Frank Kavic.

They were there for a short time - six officers, one week each - but according to the RCMP, their help was invaluable. And they came away with invaluable experience. If there was ever an air disaster at Pearson International airport, they would be in charge.
