The Nova Scotia government has accepted the recommendations of the Swiss Air Memorial Advisory Committee.
It has approved three memorial sites.
229 people died when the MD-11 jet crashed last September off Peggy's Cove.
Former Chief Justice Lorne Clark headed up the Committee.
The report recommends memorials for the community of Bayswater and Whalesback, just west of Peggy's Cove.
The third memorial will mark the actual crash site in St. Margaret's Bay on maps and charts.
The committee will call for proposals next week for the actual design of the memorials. Residents of the area told the committee they want a simple and dignified design.
