Maple Leaf Gardens opened its doors to the public Sunday afternoon, trying to shine some light on a dark corner of its past. The management of the Toronto hockey arena held its first forum on child sexual abuse.

The workshops were dedicated to the memory of Martin Kruze.

Kruze was the first person to report that he'd been molested by Gardens employees during the 1970s and early 80s. He commited suicide last year, after his abuser was sentenced to only two years in jail. That sentence was later increased to six years.

Kruze's brother told the conference that victims shouldn't be afraid to come forward.

It's hoped the event will become an annual affair.
