Police are investigating a stabbing near a 7-11 at Dufferin Street and St. Clair Avenue West that sent a 21-year-old man to a trauma centre early Thursday morning.

The victim was rushed to Sunnybrook Hospital in life-threatening condition around 1:30 a.m., but Staff Sgt. Bruce Newman said that victim was still undergoing surgery around 5:30 a.m. and was expected to make a full recovery.

The 13 Division staff sergeant could not say whether the man knew either of his two assailants.

He was stabbed in the back during a fight that happened outside a 7-11 convenience store in the area, Newman said.

"We know that it was some kind of dispute, but the victim's in surgery now so we don't know yet all of the details."

Police are still looking for the two men involved. They are expected to release a description of them later today.
