Alex Petrie is visiting Newfoundland from British Columbia in hopes of catching cod. Around lunchtime on Thursday, he was doing just that near Exploits Island in the Bay of Exploits when he did catch the fish this province is famous for. The thing is, it was what was chasing the cod that freaked Petrie out. As he reeled in his line, Petrie noticed a shark circling and then saw the line go even tighter as the shark chomped into the cod, ripping away its lower body and leaving Petrie with only half a fish to pull aboard his small boat.
