Toronto Mayor Rob Ford's admission that he has smoked crack cocaine has been met with calls for the beleaguered politician to step aside and get help.

"I feel sad for my city, I feel sad for the mayor, I feel sad for his family," Toronto City Councillor Jaye Robinson said.

Ford has refused to step down, saying he apologizes for his past mistakes.
