ADQ tumbles in central Quebec, retains only 2 seats

The Action Démocratique du Québec suffered several losses in central Quebec, holding on to only two of its seats in the region.
With ADQ support steadily dropping across the province, the party had been fighting to keep its six seats in the central region.
PQ candidate Jean-Martin Aussant emerged victorious in Nicolet-Yamaska, the region's tightest riding. Aussant edged Liberal Mario Landry by less than one per cent of the vote. The ADQ's Eric Dorion lost the riding, finishing in third place with about 26 per cent of the vote.
The ADQ's Janvier Grondin has kept his Beauce-Nord riding, earning more than 50 per cent of the vote. Grondin has held the riding since 2003.
Over in Lotbinière, Sylvie Roy, a two-term ADQ MNA, held on to her seat.
Former Liberal MNA Liberal Claude Bachand won back the Arthabaska riding over ADQ incumbent Jean-François Roux.
In Beauce-Sud, ADQ incumbent Claude Morin lost to Liberal Robert Dutil, a former cabinet minister.
The ADQ also lost in Drummond, where Sébastien Schneeberger dropped to the PQ.
And in Saint-Hyacinthe, Parti Québécois candidate Émilien Pelletier defeated ADQ incumbent Claude L' Écuyer.
In Richelieu, Parti Québécois MNA Sylvain Simard held on for his fifth win in the riding.
Liberal Agriculture Minister Laurent Lessard was re-elected in Frontenac.
