Kathleen Weil, president and CEO of the Foundation of Greater Montreal, will run for the Quebec Liberals in the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce riding.
Weil, a lawyer by trade, has run the non-profit charitable organization since 2000.
She was also the chairwoman of the board of directors at the Regional Board of Health and Social Services for Montréal-Centre from 1992 to 2003.
The Quebec Liberal party will officially announce Weil's candidacy on Friday.
She will run in the riding in Montreal's west end, which was left vacant by long-serving MNA Russell Copeman when he retired from politics this fall. Notre-Dame-de-Grâce is considered a Liberal fortress.
