Riding profile: Vaudreuil is located off the south-western tip of Montreal, near the Ontario border. The riding contains the following municipalities: Hudson, L'Île-Cadieux, L'Île-Perrot, Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot, Pincourt, Terrasse-Vaudreuil, Vaudreuil-Dorion and Vaudreuil-sur-le-Lac.

Riding history: Vaudreuil first existed from 1830 to 1936. It changed to Vaudreuil-Soulanges in 1939. In the 1988 redistribution, Vaudreuil riding was re-established from 76.22 per cent of Vaudreuil-Soulanges.

In the 2001 redistribution, lost Pointe-Fortune, Rigaud, the parish of Ste-Justine-de-Newton, Ste-Marthe, St-Lazare and Très-Saint-Rédempteur (15,862 electors) to Soulanges riding to the west.

Parti Québécois's Louise Cuerrier defeated Liberal Paul Phaneuf by 534 votes.

1981

Liberal Daniel Johnson defeated Cuerrier by 1,955 votes.

1985

Johnson defeated Parti Québécois's Gilles Thibault by 11,566 votes. Served as minister of industry and commerce, deputy house leader, Dec. 12, 1985 to June 23, 1988; president of Treasury Board and minister responsible for administration June 23, 1988 to Oct. 11, 1989.

Vaudreuil

1989

Johnson, the incumbent from Vaudreuil-Soulanges, defeated Parti Quécécois's Janelle Dominique. Served as president of Treasury Board June 23, 1988 to Jan. 11, 1994; minister responsible for administration and civil service, Oct. 11, 1989 to Jan. 11, 1994; deputy house leader, November 1989. Was acclaimed leader of Quebec Liberal Party, Dec. 14, 1993. Sworn in as premier, Jan. 11, 1994. Remained as premier until September 1994.

1994

Johnson defeated Parti Quécécois's Réjean Boyer by 9,107 votes. Johnson announced his resignation on March 2, 1998; replaced by Jean Charest as leader on April 30, 1998.

1998

Liberal Yvon Marcoux defeated Parti Quécécois's Yvon Faille by 6,711 votes.

2003

Marcoux defeated Faille by 8,917 votes.

2007

Marcoux defeated Action Démocratique du Québec's Jean-Claude Levesque.
