Riding profile: Pointe-aux-Trembles riding contains that part of Montreal bounded by Henri-Bourassa Boulevard East, Félix-Leclerc Highway (40), Prairies River including Bonfoin Island and Haynes Island, the St. Lawrence River and the boundary of Montreal-East with the boroughs of Montreal and Anjou.

Riding history: Pointe-aux-Trembles was created in 1988 from 26.92 per cent of Anjou, 12.34 per cent of Bourget and 40.15 per cent of LaFontaine.
In 2001 redistribution, 39 per cent of riding moved to Bourget, while 32 per cent of LaFontaine moved to Pointe-aux-Trembles.
The area in the north bounded by Sherbrooke Street East, border of Montreal and Montreal-East, the St. Lawrence River, Mercier Avenue, the CN railway line and Saint-Émile (14,929 electors) was moved to Bourget.
In the east, the following was gained from LaFontaine: south of the power line, the area between Henri-Bourassa Boulevard East and the Metropolitan Highway; north of the power line, the area east of Félix-Leclerc Highway to the St. Lawrence River, including Bonfoin Island and Haynes Island (16,066 electors).

| 1994 | Parti Québécois's Bourdon defeated Liberal José Simon by 6,034 votes. On June 18, 1996, Bourdon announced his retirement from politics. He gave no reason. |
| Dec. 9, 1996 byelection | Parti Québécois's Nicole Léger defeated Liberal Bernard Lauzon by 1,956. Appointed minister for Child and Family Welfare Sept. 23, 1998. |
| 1998 | Parti Québécois's Léger defeated Liberal Richard La Charité by 6,836 votes. Remained as minister for Child and Family Welfare until March 8, 2001. Appointed minister for Elimination of Poverty and Exclusion, March 8, 2001. |
| 2003 | Parti Québécois's Léger defeated Liberal Daniel Fournier by 6,836 votes. Léger resigned her post on June 1, 2006. |
| Aug. 14, 2006 byelection | Parti Québécois's André Boisclair defeated Green candidate Xavier Daxhelet by 7,563 votes. Boisclair had become leader of the PQ on Nov. 15, 2005. |
| 2007 | Parti Québécois's Boisclair defeated Action Démocratique du Québec's Martin-Karl Bourbonnais. Following the PQ's disappointing finish, behind both the Liberals and ADQ in seats in the National Assembly, Boisclair announced that he was resigning as PQ leader on May 8, 2007 and as MNA on Oct. 15, 2007. |
