Riding profile: Marguerite-Bourgeoys is a south-central Montreal riding. More than 60 industrial companies, including Monsanto Canada and Publications Dumont printing plant are located here.

The riding contains the part of Montreal bounded by the boundary of the city of LaSalle with the towns of Lachine, Montreal and Verdun; the St. Lawrence River, including the islands of Chèvres, Diable and Hérons; the CP railway line; Newman Boulevard and Dollard Avenue and its extension.

Riding history: The riding was created in 1965 from parts of Jacques-Cartier and Notre-Dame-de-Grâce ridings.

In the 1992 redistribution, it kept all of the existing riding and added, from Verdun, 21 LaSalle polls (6,028 electors).

In the 2001 redistribution, it added, in the west, part of LaSalle bounded by: CP railway line, Newman Boulevard, 90th Avenue and the St. Lawrence River. (3,434 electors) from Marquette riding.

1995 sovereignty referendum: No - 72.56 per cent; Yes - 27.44 per cent

1973	Liberal Fernand Lalonde defeated Parti Québécois's Michel Boileau. He was appointed minister of state, November 1973; minister of state for education and responsible for application of official language law, September 1974; solicitor general July 1975.
1981	Lalonde was re-elected in 1976 and 1981. He was deputy house leader, September 1982 to March 1984; resigned as MNA March 14, 1984.
June 18, 1984 byelection	Liberal Gilles Fortin defeated Parti Québécois's Maurice Maisonneuve.
1985	Fortin again defeated Maisonneuve.
1989	Liberal Liza Frulla defeated Equality Party's Philip Chrysafidis. She was appointed minister of communications, October 1989; minister of cultural affairs, October 1990 and minister of culture and communications and minister responsible for French-speaking communities, January to September 1994.
1994	Frulla defeated Parti Québécois's Alain Therrien. Resigned on June 19, 1998, the last day of sitting before summer break.
1998	Liberal Monique Jérôme-Forget defeated Parti Québécois's Therrien.
2003	Jérôme-Forget defeated Parti Québécois's Suzanne Groulx.
2007	Jérôme-Forget defeated Action Démocratique du Québec's Martin Marquis. She is currently minister of finance, minister of government services and minister responsible for government administration.
