Riding profile: Lotbinière is located on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River, in between Montreal and Quebec City. It contains the following municipalities: Deschaillons-sur-Saint-Laurent, Dosquet, Fortierville, Inverness, Laurier-Station, Laurierville, Leclercville, Lemieux, Lotbinière, Lyster, Manseau, Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur-d'Issoudun, Parisville, Saint-Agapit, Sainte-Agathe-de-Lotbinière, Saint-Antoine-de-Tilly, Saint-Apollinaire, Sainte-Cécile-de-Lévrard, Sainte-Croix, Saint-Édouard-de-Lotbinière, Saint-Ferdinand, Saint-Flavien, Sainte-Françoise, Saint-Gilles, Saint-Janvier-de-Joly, Saint-Louis-de-Blandford, Sainte-Marie-de-Blandford, Saint-Narcisse-de-Beaurivage, Saint-Patrice-de-Beaurivage, Saint-Pierre-Baptiste, Saint-Pierre-les-Becquets, Sainte-Sophie-de-Lévrard, Sainte-Sophie-d'Halifax, Saint-Sylvestre, Val-Alain and Villeroy.

Riding history: The riding has existed since the 1830 election. In the 1992 redistribution, it lost Saint-Jean-de-Brebeuf polls to Frontenac.

In the 2001 redistribution, it added three per cent of Frontenac riding - Saint-Ferdinand and Sainte-Sophie-d'Halifax (2,164 electors) - as well as part of the municipality of Saint-Apollinaire (45 electors) from Chutes-de-la-Chaudière.

1973

Liberal Georges Massicotte defeated Parti Créditiste Jean-Louis Béland by 3,744 votes.

1976

Union Nationale Rodrigue Biron defeated Massicotte. Biron was elected party leader, May 23, 1976. Resigned as leader on March 3, 1980. Sat as Independent until Nov. 11, 1980, when he joined the PQ.

1981

Parti Québécois's Biron defeated Liberal Jean Tremblay. He was appointed minister of industry, commerce and tourism, April 30, 1981; minister of industry and commerce, September 1984 and December 1985.

1985

Liberal Lewis Camden defeated Biron.

1989

Liberal Camden defeated Parti Québécois's Alonzo Le Blanc.

1994

Parti Québécois's Jean-Guy Paré defeated incumbent Camden by 283 votes.

1998

Paré defeated Liberal Christian Lessard.

2003

Action Démocratique du Québec's Sylie Roy defeated Liberal Monique Drolet Glazier by 749 votes.

2007

Roy defeated Liberal Laurent Boissonneault.
