1970, 1973

Liberal Roger Pilote defeated Parti Québécois's Georges-Henri Fortin in 1970 and 1973.

1976, 1981 and 1985

Parti Québécois's Jacques Brassard defeated Liberal Pilote. Parti Québécois's Brassard was re-elected in 1981 and 1985. He was minister of recreation, fish and game from November 1984 to December 1985. Whip from 1985.

1989

Parti Québécois's Brassard defeated Liberal Pierre Gimaïel. (Gimaïel had been elected federally in Lac-Saint-Jean in 1980 but defeated in 1984 and 1988).

1994

Brassard defeated Liberal Denis Simard. He was appointed minister of environment and wildlife on Sept. 26, 1994; vice-president of the Treasury Board, Nov. 3, 1995; minister of transport and minister responsible for Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean region, Jan. 29, 1996; minister responsible for intergovernmental affairs, Jan. 29, 1996 - Sept. 23, 1998; government house leader, minister responsible for parliamentary reform, Sept. 23, 1998.

1998

Parti Québécois's Brassard defeated Liberal Noël Girard. He was government house leader and minister responsible for parliamentary reform to Jan. 29, 2002. Minister of natural resources, Dec. 15, 1998 - Jan. 29, 2002. On Jan. 29, 2002, after meeting with then Premier Bernard Landry, Brassard and Joliette MNA Guy Chevrette resigned from cabinet and their seats in the national assembly, saying they would have had their roles diminished in the next day's cabinet shuffle. They said they felt the party had pushed them out the door.

June 17, 2002 byelection

Parti Québécois's Stéphan Tremblay defeated Action Démocratique du Québec's Jocelyn Fradette by 651 votes.

2003

Tremblay defeated Liberal Benoît Harvey.

2007

Parti Québécois's Alexandre Cloutier defeated Liberal Yves Boldoc.
